How can I increase my milk supply?
There are a number of ways you can help increase your milk supply. Firstly, encourage your baby to breastfeed frequently and for as long as she wants. Offer both breasts for feeding allowing the baby to finish the milk in the first breast to ensure intake of the nutritious hindmilk. Ensure the baby is latching on properly.
Give your baby only breast milk. It may be tempting to top up with a bottle of formula however getting her used to this will result in less breastmilk being produced.
Try expressing milk after each feed to encourage further stimulation of your breasts. And finally, ensure that you are getting the proper rest and are drinking lots of nutritious soups and fluids.
